Harold Kvale, the son of Helmick and Lena (Olson) Kvale, was born March 13, 1924, on the family farm east of Goldfield, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. Harold completed the 8th grade but then had to help his family with the farm. On March 9, 1947, Harold was united in marriage to Iona H. Lund. They farmed near Eagle Grove for several years and then in 1960, they established their home on a farm south of Thor. Harold was a member of Ullensvang Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his life of farming, being his own mechanic, attending farm sales and the ritual of driving around the sections to "check the crops"!

Harold passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge at the age of 92 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Iona on Feb. 3, 2005; brothers, Leslie, Norman and Kenneth.

Survivors include his daughter, Sonia Kvale and her daughters, Lexie and McKenna of Fort Dodge; sister, Clarise Johnson of Wells, MN and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26th, 2016, at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor with Pastor Darryl Landsverk officiating. Visitation is Wednesday, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in East Ullensvang Cemetery near Thor. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
