Funeral services for Norman R. Tubbs, 72, Humboldt, were held Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt, with burial in the Union Cemetery, Humboldt. He died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at his home in Humboldt. The Mason - Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements, with the Rev. Ed Kail officiating. Survivors include his wife, Jane Tubbs of Humboldt; children and their spouses, Jill and Tom Pliner of Rolfe, Jan and Glen Westling of Badger, and Aaron and Jennifer Tubbs of New York City; grandchildren, Jeffery, Amber and Casey Westling and Jacob and Katie Tubbs; step grandchildren, Sarah Peters, Laura Chalstrom and Anne Pliner; and a step great-grandson, Colby Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother and sister-in-law, Dorman and Bobbi Tubbs; and a grandson, Tyler Westling.
Norman Richard Tubbs, son of Leonard and Maxine Tubbs, was born May 12, 1934, in rural Webster County. He was raised and educated in Humboldt County, and graduated from Rutland High School in 1952. Following his education, he began his farming and truckng operations. On April 10, 1966, he was united in marriage to Jane Opheim at Thor. The couple made their home in Humboldt County all of their married lives. From 1990 - 1996 he was employed by The Chantland Company and continued to farm until his retirement in 1999.
He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. During his life, he enjoyed working in his yard, working on the family home, restoring furniture, attending the State Fair, and most of all, his family.
