Betty Jansen, 90, of Webster City, died Friday, May 13, 2016 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Church in Kamrar with Pastor Peter Mueller officiating. Burial at Community Church Cemetery will follow the services. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.
Betty Lou Claude was born July 12, 1925 northwest of Webster City, the daughter of Harry and Mabel Mourlam Claude. She lived in Hamilton County all her life except for two years when she was a young girl at Renwick. She graduated from Randall High School in 1943. She married Arend Jansen on September 22, 1949 in Lakota. The couple started farming two miles north of Kamrar in 1950 until their retirement in 1995. They continued to reside on the farm. The couple wintered in Arizona for 22 years.
Betty is survived by her husband, Arend of Webster City; son, Gary (Colleen) Claude of Jewell; grandchildren, Carlene (Bruce) Block, Joe Holland, Cathy (Todd) Siefken; great-grandchildren, Lindsay (Justin) Hoversten, Sam Block, Jennifer Holland, Wyatt Siefken; great-great-granddaughter, Kendra Hoversten; sisters, Donna Jacobson of Sauk Center, MN, Lorraine Hinderks of Jewell, Carolyn (Bob) Briggs of Brighton, CO; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Delbert Claude; sisters, Velma Wilmer, Viola Matson and Arlene Sandve.
Betty was a member of the Community Church of Kamrar and the Church Circle. She enjoyed working on the farm, crafts, sewing, cooking and baking. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
