SHEFFIELD, Iowa — Marjorie Watt, 96, of Sheffield, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016, at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the First United Methodist Church, Sheffield, with the Rev. Sandy Gobeli presiding. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Retz Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Marjorie Ruth Watt was born June 9, 1919, at Rowan, Iowa, a daughter of Charles Raymond and Harriet Mabel (Burt) Snyder. She attended school and graduated as Valedictorian of the Rowan class of 1937. On Dec. 25, 1937, Marjorie was united in marriage with Donald W. Watt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. This union was blessed with five children.

Marjorie and Donald farmed in the Dows and Swaledale areas for many years and lived on a farm near Swaledale. Marjorie volunteered for everything in the Swaledale Ladies Club and her church, the Swaledale United Methodist Church. She held many offices in her church, 4H leader and clubs. She loved to play cards and she loved to win. With her husband she enjoyed camping and working in her garden. Marjorie worked very hard her entire life and was still mowing her lawn at the age of 92. She moved into Sheffield 3 years ago and until just recently resided at Deerfield Place assisted living.

Her family includes her children: Patricia (Calvin) Rice, Bemidji, MN; Wayne (Sharon) Watt, Cresco, IA; Darwin Watt, Surprise, AZ; Garry (Diann) Watt, Sidney, NE; Teri (Wayne) Schuknecht, Iowa Falls; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, in 1987, 2 brothers: Robert and Chuck Snyder and sisters Francis Ann and Helen.
