1873 -- December 15, 1888

Roy Chauvet, the lad who was accidentally shot in the abdomen last summer, had a relapse last week and died Saturday morning. His body was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery on Sunday.

Roy Chauvet, the 15 year old son of A. B. Chauvet, section boss on the first section west of town, was accidentally shot by Eli Casperson's boy near Dakota City railroad bridge last Wednesday. The boy was handling an old rusty revolver which went off with above results. Roy was brought to town and at last account was doing well and will recover. Another warning against fooling with revolvers that are “not loaded.”
