Clifford Simpson, son of William and Mary Martin Simpson was born September 1, 1891 near Potomac, Ill. and passed away at his son's home in Miami, Florida, on August 16, 1954 at the age of 62 years, 1 month and 16 days. He attended school at Potomac and lived near there until he moved to Eagle Grove in 1915. Shortly afterwards he began working for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad where he was a railroad engineer.
In 1924 he was married to Tillie Weland. To this union were born three children. Surviving him is his daughter Marie of Miami, Florida and wife Tillie, two sons, Ray of Miami, Fla.; William of Eagle Grove. One granddaughter, Margaret Marie of Miami, Fla. and a sister, Grace Young of Potomac, Ill. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Marie, who passed away in infancy; his parents, and one sister Blanche.
He was a Veteran of World War I, a member of the Methodist church, for many years, Bower Lodge No. 464, Eastern Star, Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers and the American Legion of Eagle Grove.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 21, 1954 at the Methodist Church with Rev. Harrison Dawes officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery. Masonic services were conducted Friday Eve at 8 p. m. at the Wilson Funeral Chapel by Bower Lodge No. 464.
