September 13, 1943 ---- November 30, 2015
Born September 13, 1943, in Coleman, TX. Katherine grew up in small town Dows, IA. She graduated in 1968 from Des Moines University - College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete a residency in Psychiatry at the University of Iowa. She practiced psychiatry for 35 years. She married Jared Cohen for time and all eternity in the Provo Temple on June 5, 1992. Katherine had a true zest for life. She loved her family more than anything. She had a passion for genealogy that continued her entire life, and that passion brought her to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She considered her real birthday to be the day she was baptized, September 9, 1972.
She was a world traveler and a homebody at the same time. She valued education and instilled its importance in those around her. She had a thirst for knowledge in all things. Her doors were open to many over the years. People were naturally drawn to her. If you met her, you never forgot her--the embodiment of one-of-a-kind. She wanted to get to know who you really were and what made you tick. Conversations were deep and real. She was a character and wanted to make that clear. She loved the church and had an unwavering faith. She did not fear the other side, but was openly excited to be reunited with her parents, dance, eat amazing food, and be in her Heavenly Father's arms once again. She said she was happy until the very end. Katherine died peacefully in her bed on November 30, 2015, with Fox News on the TV.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Miriam Vroman. She is survived by her eternal companion, Jared Cohen; her three children, Nathaniel Greenwood (Mary), Jed Greenwood (Laurie), and Honora Rodriguez (Daniel); her sister, Marsha Mott (Russ); Aaron and Michael Christensen; and her 12 grandchildren, Alyssa, Rhianna, Farrah, Isaac, Preston, Annie, Elias, Miriam, Layla, Lucy, Suvi, Micah…and one on the way! They are her legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to purchase a memorial seat for Katherine at the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Arrangements under the care of Beck Funeral Home, Cedar Park, Texas.
