Mrs. H. A. Flett Succumbs Monday
Mrs. H. A. Plett, 65, who suffered a stroke at her home Monday evening, died Tuesday afternoon at Clarion Memorial hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church at Clarion with Rev. V. V. Schuldt in charge. Burial will be at Fairview cemetery at Dows. She is survived by her husband, and two sons, Dwight of Cedar Falls and Dean of Clarion. Two brothers, C. W. Sutton of Iowa Falls, and John P. Sutton of Independence also survive.

Lois Joanna Sutton, second daughter of Harvey Albert and Elmina Sutton, was born near Armour, S. D.. Aug. 31, 1887. When she was but a girl, the family moved by covered wagon to Red Top, Mo., for one year, and then moved again to Wing, Ill. In 1903 they came to a farm seven miles southwest of Dows. She graduated from the Dows high school with the class of 1906. Then she taught in the rural schools of Vernon township. On June 24, 1914, she was united in marriage to Henry Arthur Flett at her parents' home. The couple set up housekeeping on a nearby farm. Three children were born to them, a daughter, Elmina Valois, who died in infancy, James Dwight of Cedar Falls and Dean T. of Clarion. In the spring of 1942 the Flett family moved to the farm near Clarion where Mrs. Flett was suddenly taken ill on the evening of Sept 22 and passed away at the Clarion Memorial hospital on Sept 23 at 2:20 p. m. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church. Rev. V. V. Schuldt was in charge. Mrs. R. B. Comstock and Mrs. O. R. Ahrends sang two hymns. Mrs. Paul Loomis served as organist. Pall bearers were L. N. Archerd, C. C. Woodin, J. Ross Mechem, G. C. Hansen, Arthur Duitscher and Harold Koethe. Burial was at Fairview cemetery at Dows.She leaves besides the two sons and their wives, her husband, two grandchildren Marvin James Flett of Cedar Falls and Brenda Sue Flett of Clarion; two brothers, John P. Sutton of Independence, and Clifford W. Sutton of Iowa Falls. A brother. Homer and a sister, Mrs. Lee Mills passed away some time ago. Mrs. Flett was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. She also belonged to the Rebekah lodge, the V. F. W. Auxiliary, Ceres club and Dayton township Homemakers club, and was active in all of them.
