January 2, 1892 --- June 25, 1970

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eyler Funeral Home in Clarion for Charles Earl Dougherty. Rev. Wayne Fisher officiated, and Mrs. Wayne Fisher was the organist. Interment was in the Evergreen cemetery near Clarion. Pallbearers were Edd Whitman, Howard Whitman, Edward Didio, Carroll Swanger, Robert Blecker, and Donald Bowman.

Charles Earl Dougherty was the son of Franklin and Sina Dougherty and was born in Steamboat Rock, Iowa January 2, 1892. He passed away June 25, 1970 at the age of 78 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Clarion. He was united in marriage to Gertrude de Neui and she preceded him in death fourteen years ago. To this union four children were born: Loren of Sanford, Florida; Dale of Clarion; Russell of Belmond; and a daughter, Mrs. Gerene Smith of Eagle Grove. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Ethel Leggett of Eldora and thirteen grandchildren.

Most of his life he was employed as a meat cutter and moved his family from Iowa Falls, Iowa to Clarion in 1929 where he was employed by the Model Grocery for a number of years. He later was employed by the Geo A. Hormel Company as a livestock buyer up to the time of his retirement.
