April 18, 1867 --– December 31, 1907

The ushering in of the New Year brought sadness and gloom to one of the happiest and most prominent homes of our city, when Mrs. Mary R. Blake passed away, leaving a fond and devoted husband and two little children, Master Bruce and Miss Bernice and a host of warm friends to mourn their loss. The news of her death came so sudden and was such a great shock that the entire community was bowed with grief.

Mrs. Blake was ill only a few days, first taking down on Friday. On Monday the circle of devoted ones had hopes of her recovery, but at midnight her illness took a sudden turn and at 9:30 she had passed into that land of better and brighter promises, the cause of her demise was due to pneumonia.

Mary R. Prescott, the wife of Wayland R. Blake, was born at Beaver Dam, Wis., on April 18, 1867. She was united in marriage on April 31, 1887, and moved with her husband to Eagle Grove, in 1899. Two children were born to this happy union, Bernice and Bruce. She leaves besides her own family five sisters and one brother. The funeral services will be held at the home at 3 o'clock on Friday, and interment will be made in the Rose Hill cemetery. We join in extending to the bereaved ones our heartfelt sympathy.
