CEDAR FALLS — Cecil C. “Bud” Kepler, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, March 24 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo. He was born July 17, 1926, in Eagle Grove, son of Cecil R. and Catherine Meier Kepler. He married Kathryn L. Dolan on July 10, 1948, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls. She died Dec. 11, 2009. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Bud was a tanker driver for Carnation for 20 years and then became head custodian at North Cedar Elementary School, retiring in 1991.

Survived by: three daughters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, James (Thelma) of Eagle Grove; three sisters, Lorraine Eikenberry of North Carolina, Bernadine Voss of Arizona and Sara Noss of Iowa; his private caregiver, Betty Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister, Marjorie Hogan.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Memorials: may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association and Cedar Valley Hospice.
