DEATH CALLED AN OLD SETTLER
Passing Of John Imboden After Lingering Illness

The Death of John Imboden occurred at his home in this city on So. Lucas Avenue, Tuesday morning. Mr. Imboden had been confined to his bed most all summer and his death was not unexpected. Funeral services will be held from the home on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. John Imboden was born in Switzerland, Dec. 27, 1839. Obituary - John Imboden
John Imboden was born in Switzerland Dec. 27, 1839. In 1852 the family immigrated to America, locating in Ohio. In 1863 John went to Illinois and worked upon a farm until 1875 then moved to Madison County, Iowa where he rented a farm for five years. At that time he had saved his wages and income and was able to purchase a farm in Polk County, Iowa. In 1885 he purchased 160 acres of land in Troy township, Wright Co., Iowa at $18 per acre, and increased his holdings until he owned 320 acres. He resided upon the farm until 1900, when he retired and purchased a residence in Eagle Grove.

In 1867 Mr. Imboden was married to Margaret Ringenberg. Six children were born to this union; Catheryn, Henry, Jonathan, Mable, Nora and Charles. Several years after the death of his first wife, Mr. Imboden married Mrs. Eleanor (McFarland) Jones. Mr. Imboden is survived by his six children and one sister. While on the farm in Troy township he was road supervisor, and his were always performed with an honesty that is due all men. He always met every business engagement and obligation and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
