ARMSTRONG, Iowa - A funeral service for Donald Mitchell, 64, of Armstrong, Iowa, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at United Methodist Church in Armstrong, Iowa, with Pastor Lyndon Roesler officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, Iowa. Don departed this life on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at his home in Armstrong, Iowa. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Armstrong.

Donald Mitchell, the son of William Edwin and Fay Lucille (Ersham) Mitchell was born April 11, 1951. Don departed this life on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at his home in Armstrong, Iowa, at the age of 64. Don was raised in Armstrong and lived briefly in Estherville and Richmond, Missouri. He received his education in the Armstrong Schools. On August 28, 1970 he was united in marriage to Karen Atkinson in Estherville, Iowa. Don worked several labor jobs and was employed at Arts-Way. Most of his life he was a professional truck driver and drove for Dudley's in Swea City; Umthun Trucking in Eagle Grove and Oberg Freight in Fort Dodge until he retired for health reasons. Don was baptized and confirmed from the Free Methodist Church. He is currently a member of the United Methodist Church in Armstrong. Left to cherish Don's memory is his wife, Karen of Armstrong; son Bill Mitchell of Armstrong; grandchildren, Brittney Mitchell of Davenport, Iowa and Bailey Mitchell of Armstrong; one great grandchild, Braylon Jones of Armstrong; one brother, David Mitchell of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law and also many nieces and nephews. Preceding Don in death are his parents; infant brother, John Arnold; sister, Rose O'Dell and brother, Edwin.
