April 4, 1918 ---- November 16, 1996

MADISON, WI - Floyd E. Helgesen, age 78, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 1996 at a local hospital from multiple myeloma. He was bom on April 4, 1918 in Goldfield, Iowa. Floyd was the fourth child born to Harold and Jennie Helgesen. He began school in Goldfield but moved to the Madison area with his family in 1924. Floyd successfully graduated from East High School ana proceeded to further his education at Madison Area Technical college, where he acquired a degree as an accounting clerk. Floyd also attended the Hardeman Bible college in Henderson, Tennessee. Floyd worked for several companies before obtaining a job at Madison East High School in maintenance. He worked there for almost 27 years before retiring. Floyd was first married to Marion Olson in January of 1937. Through this marriage he attained three wonderful children. Floyd was remarried on October 27, 1952 to Conine Harris and they had two lovely daughters. Floyd and Corrine shared 43 years of joy in their marriage before she passed away in April of 1995.

Throughout the years, Floyd has had several hobbies such as coin and stamp collecting, poem and short story writing, as well as participating in bingo, flipo, word search, music programs and community outings. He was a member of the Eastside Christian Church and active member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Dane County. Floyd was a devoted husband and father who shared his faith in God with his children and friends. His warmth and sense of humor will be missed by family and friends alike.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Corrine; his parents and brothers, Ellsworth and Milton. Survivors include three daughters, Jaunita (Jay) Webb of Madison, Nancy and her fiance Jeff of Madison and Janet (Mario) Marcelino of Madison; two sons, Roger Helgesen of Orange, California and Gary Helgesen of Madison; seven grandchildren, Bobbie, John, Melissa, Alise, Brian, Craig and Corey; he is also survived by five great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Don) Yahn and Ann Strain; many nieces, nephews and friends. Entombment at Roselawn Memorial Park, November 20, 1996.
