Roger V. Schulze, 78, of Fort Dodge passed away on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A private interment will be held at Newark Township Cemetery, Vincent, IA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Roger was born in Fort Dodge on September 16, 1937 to Lawrence and Alberta (Meyer) Schulze. He grew up in rural Fort Dodge and attended Trinity Lutheran School and then graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1955. He was united in marriage to Barbara Laurent on August 20, 1966 at the South Enes Lutheran Church, Vincent, IA. He worked as a farmer and a cattle feeder. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Deer Creek Township. He was recently an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge where he served on numerous boards and committees. He was a member of R-Calf, Iowa Cattleman’s Association, and served on the W&H Cooperative board. In his second career he volunteered as a driver for the DAV and supported the ministry at Beacon of Hope and at Mission Central. He also was a coordinator of the Brushy Creek Honor Flight Welcome Home Ceremony. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball, watching all sports especially the St. Louis Cardinals, raising cattle, and telling stories. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his wife Barb; daughter Gail Schulze; son Steven (Jenny) Schulze and grandchildren Lauren and Tyler Schulze. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Alberta and his sister Jean Harpham. Memorials may be left to Mission Central or the Brushy Creek Honor Flight.
