Dean Weir Moser was born July 8, 1926, in Troy Township, Wright County, Iowa, the son of Carl B. and Sarah J. Beaver Moser. He was educated in the Troy Township School No. 4, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School with the class of 1944.

He enlisted in the Army, and served from December 22, 1943, until February 7, 1947, being discharged with the rank of Sgt. from the 29th TCS of the United States Army Air Corps. He was united in marriage to Patricia Siddens of Eagle Grove on December 28, 1944, in the Congregational Church in Eagle Grove. The young couple farmed from 1947 to 1957. During their farming years, the family received the honor of being the GI Farm Family of the Year in 1954. The family was chosen by Iowa State University to host the Soviet agriculture delegation in 1955. He was employed by CCA for one year, then Boone Valley Cooperative Processing Association, and AGP as a consumer relations specialist since that time. Dean was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove; the American Legion; had been a member of the Masonic Lodge; was a past vice president of the Wright County Fair Board; past director of the Farm and Home Administration; president of Troy Township School; and Troy Township Trustee.

Dean became ill on August 12 of this year, and was diagnosed as having cancer of the liver. He died from this illness on Saturday, Nov. 5, 1988, at the age of 62 years, three months, and 27 days. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl. He is survived by his mother, Sarah, Eagle Grove; wife, Patricia, Eagle Grove; five sons, Michael, Iowa City; Douglas, Chester, Ill.; Richard, North Brunswick, N. J.; Thomas, Atlanta, Ga.; and Carl Timothy, Marble Rock, Iowa; a brother, Larry Moser, Eagle Grove; and two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Doris) Hultgren, Omaha, Neb.; and Mrs. Larry (Charlene) Strain, Mason City; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dean W. Moser, were held Tuesday, November 8, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. The Rev. Scott C. Hall officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
