Edward Alvin Asche was born on October 12, 1927, in Kanawha, Iowa, to Angle "Ed" and Alice Omvig Asche. He moved to Eagle Grove with his family in 1938. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1947 and was stationed in Japan as a military policeman. He was united in marriage to Irene M. French on March 26, 1959, in Kansas. He was self employed and then went to work as a heavy equipment operator for Geise and Lund Construction Companies in Eagle Grove and also Clark Construction in Fort Dodge. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.

Edward A. Asche died on Friday, August 28. 1998, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 70. Survivors include four sons, Steve Ackerson and wife, Penny, Eagle Grove, Richard Ackerson of Oakdale, James Ackerson, Tucson, Ariz., and Allan Asche, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Patti Kist and husband Terry, Eagle Grove, and Rhonda Margo McPherson, Fort Dodge; nine brothers, Joe Asche, Eagle Grove, Don Asche, Eagle Grove, Kenny Asche, Clarion, Richard Asche, Clarion, Ron Asche, Eagle, Idaho, Larry Asche, Eagle Grove, Bobby Asche, Eagle Grove, John Asche, Eagle Grove, and Terry Arne, Eagle Grove; four sisters, Mary Henningson, Clear Lake, Mildred Reed, Eagle Grove. Alice Jean Lessmeier, Fort Dodge, and Linda Asche, Eagle Grove; one brother-in-law, Larry French and wife, Betty, Flower Mound, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene on January 16, 1998; and one granddaughter, Marisa.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 1998, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend Franz Schemmel officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
