April 26, 1928 --- February 26, 2016

Harold O. Ainger, age 87, of Belmond, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Belmond. Funeral services for Harold Ainger will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Belmond. Pastor Leila Blackburn will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Belmond Honor Guard. Visitation for Harold O. Ainger will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday March 2, 2016 at Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luicks Lane South in Belmond and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Harold was born on April 26th, 1928 in Belmond, Iowa. Harold was a World War II veteran. During his enlistment in the Air Force, his buddies gave him the nickname “Curly” due to his thick and curly hair. While stationed in Wajima, Japan, he met and married Chie Urushihara. After returning to Belmond, Harold worked for the City, Spahn & Rose lumberyards and General Mills. He eventually joined Packard Electric, later earning his journeyman’s license and becoming a part owner of the company. After retirement, he and Chie traveled to Minnesota, Yellowstone, Hawaii and Japan. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid walleye fisherman. Harold was a loving and devoted caretaker to his wife Chie during her illness.

He was preceded in death by his wife Chie, his parents, his brothers Raymond, and Francis, his sister Esther Wilcox, infant sister Fannie and a stillborn brother. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved cat Leo, his children Patricia Hamilton (Jim), Michael Ainger (Dawn), Peggy Gaylord (David), his grandchildren Matthew, Sarah, Stephen, Megan and Jacob, step-grandchildren Tyler, Austin and Ryan, 3 great grandchildren Mason, Norah and Claire, a sister Ruth Benton and many nieces and nephews.

Harold was a generous and loving man and will be deeply missed.
