Marie Edith Bonde died on Friday, December 6, 2002, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald, in May of 2000 and a sister, Elianne Steele. Survivors include one son, Larry Bonde, and wife, Jeanne, Iowa City; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Marcel Faucher, Altus, Okla.; and one sister, Margie Belliveau, and husband, Jim, Pueblo, Colo.

Marie Edith Faucher, the daughter of Neree and Celarie Faucher, was born on August 16, 1917, at St. Perpetua, Quebec, Canada. She moved with her family to Lowell, Mass., and later to Taftville, Conn. She graduated from Benee Hairdressing Academy in Hartford, Conn., and worked for Wises Beauty Salon. She was united in marriage to Gerald Bonde on January 10, 1945, at the Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. After her husband's discharge from the U. S. Coast Guard in 1945, the couple moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where they made their home. She operated Milady's Beauty Salon for 16 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Ladies Guild, and was a past member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She moved to Melrose Meadow Retirement Community in Iowa City in September 2000.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 10, at 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eagle Grove. Burial was held in Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
