Leona Martha, daughter of Pete and Maggie Frohling Steenblock, was born December 28, 1910 on a farm near Goodell. she was baptized in a Methodist Church in Alexander, Iowa. She attended rural school in Avery Township. On December 19, 1932, she was married to Alfred Henry Meinders at the Reformed church parsonage, in Klemme, Iowa. They had two children, Alvira (Mrs. Dean) Thada of Meservey and Duane of Belmond. They farmed in the Thornton area until 1960 upon retiring, they moved to Belmond. She was a member of the Reformed church for many years and served on several church committees. Her hobby was crocheting. During retirement, many winters were enjoyed in Texas.

Preceding her death were her parents six brothers, and three sisters, Survivors include her husband, Alfred, two children, five grandchildren four great grandchildren. two brothers, one sister and many nieces and nephews.
