April 14, 1928 ---- February 7, 2016

The family will gather to greet friends later this spring when a memorial service and graveside service will be scheduled in Renwick, Iowa.

Earl Merson Yanney was born April 14, 1928, in rural Renwick, Iowa, the son of Moine and Alice (Merson) Yanney. Earl grew up and attended school in Renwick, graduating high school there in 1945. After high school, Earl worked on the farm and in Waterloo before enlisting in the United States Air Force in January of 1951. After basic training, Earl was stationed with the 517th Air Base Squadron at Ethan Allen Air Force Base, Winooski, Vermont. While there, he met his future wife Kathleen "Kay" Sweeny from Saint Albans Bay, Vermont. Earl and Kay were united in marriage on January 2, 1954 in Winooski, VT. Earl was Honorably discharged on January 6, 1955.

He and Kay moved back to Renwick to start their family. Earl farmed with his father and brother Harold until their deaths, then farmed on his own until he retired. Always happier on the go, Earl also delivered Winnebago motor homes in the off-season for a number of years.

Earl loved his community and the people in it. He would often be seen driving around, stopping to talk with the people he met. He was active in his church and served as Boone Township Trustee for many years. Earl was always interested in cars and was fascinated with flight, which is why he joined the Air Force. He enjoyed a round of golf occasionally. After retirement, he and Kay traveled throughout the U.S. Every autumn they returned to Saint Albans Bay to spend a couple of months at their cabin on Lake Champlain.

Earl was a member of the Renwick United Methodist Church, Viona Lodge NO. 538, A. F. & A. M., El Kahir Shriners and the American Legion Post 289 Harvey McPeak Post.
