March 14, 1915 ---- February 11, 2016

Kathryn Susan Weber was born the 8th of 11 children to William and Catherine (DeHeck) McLaughlin on March 14, 1915 in Churchville, Iowa. She grew up on a farm near Belmond, Iowa where she had fond memories of tagging along with six older brothers while being allowed to enter into their adventures and accompanying them on buggy trips into town for groceries where the proprietor would give them a sack of candies for the trip home.

Kathryn graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls in 1941 and taught in several small schools in Wright and Madison counties in Iowa before arriving in Washington State. In support of the war effort, Kathryn worked at Hanford as they produced the plutonium as part of the Manhattan Project. Following the end of World War II, she moved to Salt Lake City to teach. After a year, she moved to Odessa, Washington to teach school where she met the love of her life, Winston Stanley Weber. They were married in 1947 in Belmond, Iowa. In April 1949, Winston and Kathryn welcomed their child, Stanley Steven. Winston passed away in 1978 and Kathryn continued to live in Odessa where she was an active member of the community including the Saint Joseph's Catholic Church Altar Society. She very much enjoyed arts and crafts and her big garden full of beautiful flowers and wonderful vegetables.

Son Stanley, daughter-in-law Nancy, her grandson Maximilian, and granddaughter Alexandra survive Kathryn. She was preceded in death Winston, and by her brothers and sisters William (Bill), Michael (Michael), John (Jack), Eugene (Gene), Edward (Ed), Vernon, Mary, Genevieve (Loyola), James (Jim), and Margaret (Muggs).

The funeral service is Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Kenny St. Hilaire officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Odessa Washington: St. Joseph Parish, 208 N. Alder, Odessa, WA 99159. STRATE FUNERAL HOME, DAVENPORT, WA is caring for the family.
