April 11, 1910 --- June 21, 1952

Lela Griggs was born on April 11, 1910 northeast of Goodell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Griggs. She was wed on April 7, 1940 to F. Daniel Boone. They were the parents of two sons. Daniel Lee who is 10 years of age and Richard Dennis age 7. Besides her husband and sons, she is survived by her parents, living in Ventura, also two sisters, Mrs. Gerald Burk of Goodell and Mrs. Raphael Kernan of Billings, Mont., and two brothers, Fernon Griggs of Miller and Kenneth of Des Moines. Funeral services for Mrs. Boone were so largely attended there was not standing room. Burial was in Belmond Cemetery.

Belmond Woman Dies Saturday

BELMOND — The entire community mourns the death of Mrs. Daniel Boone, 42, who passed away on Saturday night at her home. Funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. J. Heber Miller officiating and Eyler funeral home of Clarion in charge of funeral arrangements. Music was provided by Mrs. Paul Jenison, organist, and quartet, Mac Jensen, E. Elliott, Paul Rietz and Gus Taylor, who sang "Beyond The Sunset" at the close of the service. Casket bearers were Ronald Courson, Clark McNeal, Wllmer Burk, George Richards and George Hansen. Burial was in Belmond cemetery. Mrs. Boone was a very active member of the Methodist church and the Woman's Society of Christian Service, helping in each circle and department. She was also an active member of both the Rebekah and Eastern Star lodges. Since the Boone family came to Belmond about eight years ago, Mrs. Boone has been her husband's assistant in operating the Boone funeral home and assisting at funerals.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Boone; two sons, Danny and Dickie; two sisters, Mrs. R. Kernan of Billings, Mont., and Mrs. Gerald Burk of Goodell, and two brothers, Kenneth Griggs of Des Moines and Fernon Griggs of Miller; also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Griggs of Ventura, and many friends of Belmond and surrounding community.
