The Passing Away of a Lovely Character -- Mrs. W.C. Keith Mother of Our Editor

It is with sincere grief that we record the sudden death of Mrs. W. C. Keith, the mother of our Editor, which occurred Thursday evening December 12th at Shoshoni, Wyoming. Mrs. Keith had gone west to spend the holidays with her sons, a journey rather arduous for one in her general condition of health. She had hoped that change of climate might be beneficial and the home children had prompted her going in hope that the association would help the recovery from the severe and sudden shock of the death of her daughter so shortly ago in Austin. The summons came to the mother as it had to the daughter. Without any warning she slipped quietly into the other life. While these sudden shocks are most severe upon those who are left behind, it seems almost that an All Wise Father were praying tribute beyond our understanding to lives well lived. The beautiful character of these two women; the sweetness which was constantly diffused from their personalities and the broad love which they bore to all that belongs the higher thought in life is only a feeble expression by which we can understand such lives. God who knows them best saw fit to call them suddenly into His presence. We must believe that He knew that they needed no special time for preparation. All their lives had been a long looking forward to the return to the real home of mankind.

The final tribute which it is possible for us to pay to the physical being was held in Goldfield, Iowa, Tuesday, December 17. The church of her adoption was well filled by appreciative friends. The kindly tribute to the neighbor and friend was spoken in love and she was gently laid away by the side to await God's call in the day in of her own dear ones gone before which we shall see Him and our lives of faith here will be changed to perfect knowledge in the presence of our Maker. All of this community would add most earnestly their sympathy to the bereaved children for we know from the life of the daughter what the life of the mother must have meant to all her children. Grace sufficient for all our human needs can be found with the God Whom this mother loved. May it follow the children's lives into the reunion in the Great Beyond.
