Velva Loretta Russell, 84, died Friday, March 16, 1990 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was the daughter of Sylvester and Alma Alvada (Miller) Bryant. She was reared and educated in Clarion, Iowa. She married Edwin E. Russell on Dec. 31, 1927 in Douglas, where she resided until the time of her death. She worked at the seed house, cared for Peg Layton for several years and worked with her husband at his saddle shop. She is survived by her children, Earl Russell of Douglas and Alvada Imo Harned of Edgewater, Colo.; two brothers, Harry Bryant and Leslie Bryant both of Bruce, Wis.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 17, 1985; and one brother, Ernest Bryant.
