SERVICES: A gathering of family and friends will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Range Funeral Home in Virginia. Visitation will be for one hour before the gathering. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia.

Carl John Hartman, 76, died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at St. Raphaels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth. Carl was born on March 10, 1931, to Conrad and Anna (Tammen) Hartman in Ellston, Iowa. He was married to Veda Mae Bell on Sept. 11, 1949, in Woolstock, Iowa. Carl worked at many different jobs including dairy farming, field hand, tree service worker, taxi cab driver and for 15 years he worked at Erie Mining Company. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Carl is survived by his children, Anita Hartman, Teresa (Mike) Layman, Connie (Duane) Tweten, Chad (Jennifer) Hartman and Nancy (Jim) Huewe; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veda Mae (Bell) Hartman, and son, William Steven Hartman.
