Walter B. Parsons, Sr., age 77, of Roseville, passed away peacefully April 7 after struggling with Parkinsons. Walt was born April 30, 1924, in Eagle Grove, IA, and served in the U.S. Navy as a Fighter Director Officer 1943-1946. He received his B.S. (cum laude) in Engineering Science at Harvard University, and his Masters in Economics at the University of Minnesota. He completed his J.D. at Northwestern University School of Law. His career spanned teaching, engineering research and development, contract administration, and part-time private law practice. Walt's passion was athletics. He served on an advisory committee to the State Board of Education for health, physical education and athletics. He was a founder of the North Suburban Midget baseball league. He was a wrestling coach at Hamline University 1967-1970, and was active as a wrestling athletic official for many years. Parsons is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie; children, Dr. Walter (Linda) Parsons, Jr., Romalyn (Curt) Shreve, and Lowell (Elaine) Parsons; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral service Wednesday, 2PM at SUNSET MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE, Mpls. Visitation Tuesday, 6-8PM also at Sunset. Thanks to the staff at Lake Ridge Rehab. Center for their support.
