Thomas Arlo Rundle, 82, of Humboldt, Iowa, formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at the Rotary Ann Care Center in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was born Feb. 16, 1921, in Fullerton, Neb., to John Rundle and Clara Moss Rundle. He graduated from Fullerton High School. He moved to Iowa in 1944 to find better farming opportunities. He married Marie Wallukait of Adel, Iowa, on Sept. 12, 1948. The couple farmed near Dana, Iowa, and Ellsworth, Iowa, before moving to a farm near Renwick, Iowa, in 1959. In December 1963, he lost his right arm in a farm accident. His sons, Dan Rundle and Dave Rundle, helped him farm and raise cattle and hogs. In 1970, he and his wife moved to Humboldt. He was a salesman for Moorman Feed Co. for 13 years.
In 1985, the couple retired to Bella Vista, Ark., and lived there for 16 years. They moved back to Humboldt in October 2001 for health reasons. They lived at Springvale in Humboldt until moving to Rotary Ann in November 2002. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Arleene; seven brothers, Harry Rundle, Delbert Rundle, Don Rundle, John Rundle, Orville Rundle, Lincoln Rundle and Wayne Rundle; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Rundle. Survivors include his wife, Marie Rundle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan Rundle and Pat Rundle of Amboy, Minn., and David Rundle and Kathy Rundle of Humboldt; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Winston and Roger Winston of Bella Vista, Ark.; two sisters, Inez Cradick of Guthrie Center, Iowa, and Betty Jefferson of New Jersey; three brothers, Ed Rundle of California, Norman Rundle of Grand Junction, Iowa, and Dick Rundle of Arizona; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 26, at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt with the Rev. Ed Kail. Burial was at the Union Cemetery in Humboldt.
