Paul N. Phillips - Born June 8, 1921 in Cavalier, North Dakota, he was the son of Nort and Ella (Barnett) Phillips. He moved with his family to Cainsville, Missouri in 1922 and graduated from Cainsville High School in 1939. In 1944 he graduated from Northwest Missouri State University and later received his master's degree from Truman University, Kirksville, Missouri.

He married Gloria Ann Kern in Richmond in 1949. They lived in Kalona until 1953 when they moved to Eagle Grove. Mr. Phillips taught school in Kalona and in Eagle Grove High School and Eagle Grove Community College. In 1973 he married Mae O. Seko. He was named Business Teacher of the Year in 1973. They moved to Fort Dodge in 1974. He taught business courses at Iowa Central Community College and was Adjutant Professor at Buena Vista University. He retired in 1987. Mr. Phillips was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 613, 3rd and 4th Degree Knight, National Teachers Association, Iowa Business Education Association, Iowa Office Education Coordinators and Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mae; sons Kevin Phillips of Eagle Grove and Craig Phillips of Pocahontas; stepsons Stephen Seko of Waterloo and James Seko of Lincoln, Nebraska; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; stepmother, Gladys Phillips of Bethany, Missouri; brothers Carmen Phillips and Carol Phillips, both of San Juan, Texas and Marvin Phillips of Cainsville; and a sister Juanita Gibson of San Juan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Gloria in 1969.

[Paul N Phillips, 79, of Fort Dodge died Friday, December 1, 2000. Services were held Tuesday, December 5, 2000 in Corpus Christi Church with the Reverends Larry Burns and Chris Van Oosbree officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove.]
