James Arthur Martin, 88, Buhl and formerly of Hibbing, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at his home. He was born July 13, 1917, in Goodell, Iowa, the son of Ira and Merle (Markel) Martin. He was a graduate of Biwabik High School. In November 1952 he was married to Gertrude M. Elliott. He worked as a collection agent for Mesaba Finance. He also was an investigator for attorney's offices and had a variety of other interests and activities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working outdoors, and playing cards at the Senior Citizens Center.

Jim is survived by two sons, Dale (Andrea) Gustafson of Hibbing and John (Gail) Martin of LaCrescent, Minn; his daughter, Merle (D'Ann Prior) DeNuccio of New Brighton, Minn; sisters, Ethel (Waara) Paul and Bunny (Kay) Young of Cook, Minn; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and 'Little Bit.' He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Gertrude in 2001; three sons, John, Roy and Richard Gustafson; daughter, Carol Porter; grandson, John Gustafson, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral: Friday, May 5, at 1 p.m. at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home chapel in Hibbing. Celebrant will be Greg Anderson. Visitation: Friday, May 5, from noon until the 1 p.m. service. Inturnment: Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing; Family services provided by Anderson-Daniels, a Bauman Family Funeral Home in Hibbing.
