Willard R. Lange, age 92, of Dows passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Scenic Manor Nursing Home in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 27th at the St. Peter's U.C.C., Geneva with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Willard R. Lange was born on January 4, 1924 in rural Ackley, Iowa, the son of William and Lena (Nerdig) Lange. He graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1941 and attended the Cornell Univ. in Ithaca, NY for two years. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1944-46. On October 23, 1948 Willard was united in marriage to Lavonne Benning at the St. Peter's U.C.C. in Geneva. He had farmed all of his life and for many years worked part time at the ASCS office. He was a member of the St. Peter's U.C.C. in Geneva, American Legion in Dows, Iowa Falls Elks Club B.P.O.E. Lodge #1674, past member of the Popejoy Lions Club, and past member of the Flying Farmers.

Willard is survived by his wife, Lavonne of Dows; two daughters, Eileen (Lange) Edgington and her husband, Harold of Omaha, NE and Jean (Lange) Knipfel of Iowa Falls; a son, Allen Lange and his wife, Beverly of Dows; 5 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Lange; and his son-in-law, Randy Knipfel.
