WEBSTER CITY - Thelma Dorothy Halgrim Ventling, 98, died on January 22, 2016. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 30 at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, Iowa, with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. The family will receive friends at Boman Funeral Home in Webster City on Friday, January 29, from 5-7PM. The family has entrusted Boman Funeral Home to care for their needs.

She was born on October 20, 1917 to Ephraim and Mattie (Stockdale) Halgrim on a farm near Thor, Iowa. Thelma attended school at Willow Country School, Thor, Eagle Grove and Drake University. She married Wayne Ventling on October 10, 1942 in Ft. Snelling, MN. Thelma worked at Bell Telephone Co, taught school in Duncombe, Eagle Grove, Webster City, and Clinton, Iowa, where she retired as a Jr High Counselor. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Webster City, Sons of Norway, AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Wynne and Renner; sisters: Mildred Sorensen, Helene Halgrim, and Oveidia Morgan. Her family includes: daughter Madonna, of Davenport, Iowa; son Wayne "Ladd" (Polly Doolittle) of Webster City; daughters-in-law: Jessie Mauer (Wynne) and LeAnn (Renner) both of Des Moines; and sister Delores Buhner of Clarion, Iowa; five granddaughters and 13 great grandchildren. Memorial will be directed to Opportunity Village.
