Hold funeral services for Chester Odland, 60

Chester Henry Odland, 60, Goldfield, died Thursday afternoon after suffering an apparent heart attack while at work at Goldfield Co-op Elevator. Services were held Saturday, Oct. 19, in Lake Lutheran Church, Goldfield, with burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Survivors include the widow, Alma; daughters, Mrs. Jerry Craig, Forest City, and Mrs. Richard Johnson, Garner; six grandchildren; brothers: Clarence, Dows; Howard, Webster City; and Irvin, Eagle Grove; and sisters: Mrs. Helen Franklin, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Harriet Kruse, Parkersburg; Mrs. Luella Pippert, Mason City, and Mrs. Irene Sims, Tucson, Ariz. Mr. Odland was born near Clarion and attended country schools in that area. He was married to Alma Jacobson, Holmes, in 1940 in Samuel Lutheran Church Parsonage, Eagle Grove. They had farmed for seven years north of Holmes, and 19 years west of Goldfield. He was custodian at Boone Valley Schools for the past 3-1/2 years and for the past five years had lived at Goldfield and had been employed by the Co-op Elevator there.
