Irene Maxine Sims, 80, passed away Sunday, December 1, 1996, in Snowflake, Arizona. She was born in Clarion, Iowa and married Herbert Wendell Sims November 16, 1937. They were farmers in Iowa until 1953 when they moved to Arizona. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by two sons, Gerald M. Sims of Snowflake and Rodney W. Sims of Tucson; seven daughters, Gwen I. Dunbar of Show Low, Christine M. Edmiston of Tucson, Rita A. Byrd of Lakeside, Peggy L. Scully of Tucson, Gail Marie Johnson of Albuquerque, NM, Deborah M. Heath of Lakeside, Wendellia J. Sullivan of Marana; one brother, Irvin Odland and one sister, Harriet Kruse, both of Iowa; 31 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Sims and a daughter, Kathleen K. Sims. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.
