Rochester, MN - Services will be conducted at noon Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church for Richard A. Earles, 58, of 1945 Christopher Drive S. E., Rochester. The Rev. Julie Rogness will officiate and burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.

Mr. Earles, a feature planner for IBM, died Sunday, May 17, 1998 at his home of liver cancer. He was born 6 Apr 1940 in Kanawha, Iowa. He had lived in Rochester since 1963. On May 5, 1963 he married Clarice Eske in Mitchell County, Iowa. Mrs. Earles, a closing coordinator for Atypical Title Inc. in Kasson, survives. He was active as an adult in Cub Scouting and Scouting, serving as a den father and scoutmaster as well as being on many adult committees. He received a number of scouting adult awards. He also was member of Elks and Eagles clubs. He was a Civil Defense severe weather observer for seven years. He worked on the Eagles Cancer Telethon for eight years and worked in a number of charitable capacities at IBM. He participated in founding and later served as president of the Rochester Amateur Radio Club.

Survivors include his parents, Hurshel and Ruth Earles of Osage, Iowa; two daughters, Cheryl A. (Mrs. Josh) Kundert and Catherine M. Earles, both of Rochester; a son, Jeffrey Earles of Olathe, Kansas; four grandchildren; three sisters, Betty J. Norrie of Rochester, Susan (Mrs. John) Campbell of Harlan, Iowa, and Linda (Mrs. Paul) Dawson of Newton, Iowa; three brothers, Jerry Earles of Independence, Iowa, Keith Earles of Traer, Iowa, and Steve Earles of Reno, Nevada. A sister preceded him in death. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
