Joyce E. Smith, 82, passed away May 16, 2012. Memorial services will be at Valley View Village at 2 p.m. on June 9, 2012. Joyce was born June 11, 1929, in Kanawha, Iowa to Daniel and Dorothy Schulz. She attended school at Clarion and Fort Dodge. She married Earl Smith in 1946. She worked ten years at Grant's Department Store in Des Moines. Joyce started her own business of Crochet Keepsake. She is survived by her husband, Earl; sons, Daniel (Linda) and Robert(Karen): grandchildren, Angela Palmer, Christine Erber, Molly Rosauer, Kristy Seidel, and Michael Shuford; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Larry Schulz. Joyce was looking forward to joining her sister/"friend", Arlene Sapp who died December 31, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valley View Village or Mercy Hospice. [Des Moines, Iowa]
