Dean Curtis Lovrien passed away on November 26 at the age of 90. He was born August 1, 1925 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Sidney and Beryl (Bravander) Lovrien. Dean lived in Iowa, Redondo Beach, California and Minnesota as a child. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea and married May Marguth on December 28, 1947. They lived in Redwood Falls, Minnesota before moving to Oregon in 1951, living in Portland, Tigard and Salem before settling in Silverton in 1979. Dean was a mechanic for Northwest Natural Gas until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and Salem Scuba Club. He enjoyed anything mechanical, doing auto body work, gardening and traveling.

Dean was preceded in death by his daughter Carol in 2011. He is survived by his wife May; son Steve (Stephanie) Lovrien; daughter Melinda Greene; grandchildren Chase Lovrien, Jesse (Dottie) Greene and Mary Greene; great-grandchildren Chloe, Lyla, Noah, Dominic and Nolan; brother Richard (Lori) Lovrien and sister Phyllis (Norman) Rissenan.

A Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 19 at the Country Wedding Chapel, 9171 Nusom Rd. in Silverton with Rev. Tim Cayton officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Macular Degeneration research. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
