Elmer William Bailey Jr., 88, of Leavenworth, [Kansas] died, Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Medicalodge. He was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Rowan, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Lucy (Ryder) Bailey Sr. On April 28, 1956, Elmer married Donna Jane Ledet. She survives at the home. He is also survived by two step-sons, Blair Ledet, of the home and Jessie Ledet, of Thibodaux, La.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bailey; and many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and a sister.

He served one year in the United States Army-Air Force. Elmer briefly worked at Wilcox Electronics. He retired from Fort Leavenworth in 1982 after 29 years as an Equipment Calibration Specialist. Elmer was the President of the Buffalo Bill Days Committee for two years and he was a videographer.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
