Elaine F. Stacy, age 91, of Clarion, Iowa, formerly of Council Bluffs, died Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Clarion.

Elaine Frances Peterson, the daughter of Oscar and Frances (Warren) Peterson, was born May 5, 1924, in Omaha, Neb., and was the eldest of five sisters. She had a dressmaking business for 20 years. Elaine was involved with the Associated Artists of Omaha, the Associated Nebraska Arts Clubs and a weekly portrait group. Elaine was a recipient of many Awards of Merit from judged and juried shows. To Elaine, “Art is a spiritual thing, an inner language made visible.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Marian Brooks and Doris Graham. Elaine is survived by her children, Diane Akers, of Phoenix, Ariz., Pam (Al) Conkling, of Badger, Iowa, Larry (Kathy) Stacy, of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Jim (Stella) Akers, Stacy (Michael) Cassell, Robin (Stuart) Wooster, Joe (Emilee) Stacy and Kimberly (Brad) Peterson; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Brooks, of Litchfield, Minn., and Beverly Brewer, of Omaha.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donation has been made to the University of Iowa Medical School for medical research and study.
