CLEAR LAKE - Josephine Torgerson, 89, of 104 W. 34th St., died Tuesday (March 13, 2001) at her home. Funeral services are tentatively set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to Zion Lutheran Church in memory of M. Josephine Torgerson.

Josephine was born March 14, 1911, in Livermore, Iowa. She graduated from Livermore High School. She married Marshall Torgerson on Nov. 4, 1933, in Cedar Falls. They moved with his job as a teacher and coach to Thor, Slater, Huxley, Burt, Hanlontown, Adel, Northwood and West Des Moines. In 1984, they moved to Clear Lake. Josephine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.

Josephine is survived by her son, Jerald (Jerry) Torgerson and his wife, Jean, of Mason City; three grandchildren, Ann Ross of Apple Valley, Minn., Sarah Torgerson of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Eric Torgerson, of Minneapolis, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Sam and Elizabeth Ross; and one sister, Loretta Callaghan of Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marshall Torgerson on Oct 31, 1985; and several brothers and sisters.
