Agnes Margaret Lickteig was born September 18, 1915, in Wesley, Iowa daughter of John Bernard and Mary Elizabeth (Mahoney) Muehe. She grew up in Wesley attending St. Joseph Catholic School.

Agnes was united in marriage to Urban Joseph Lickteig on February 12, 1935 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. They lived their entire married life in Wesley. Agnes worked at the Hot Lunch Program in Wesley and also worked as a nurse's aid at the Britt Hospital. She then worked several years at Winnebago Industries in Forest City. Agnes enjoyed sewing and quilting, playing cards, visiting, and reading. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church being active in the CD of A, the Rosary Society, and the Church Guild. She was also a member of the Lucky Eight Card Club and the Wesley Senior Citizens Center.

Agnes Lickteig died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at the Algona Good Samaritan Communities, at the age of 91. She had been a resident there since June, 2005. She is survived by five children, Darlene Forburger of Johnston, IA, Sister St. James of Dubuque, IA, Patrick Lickteig and his wife Sandi of Gladstone, MO, Mary Kohler and her husband John of Shawnee, KS and Denise LaGrone and her husband Michael of Baytown, TX; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Fuller and her husband Leo of Apache Junction, AZ; a son-in-law, Charles Lyons of Camanche, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Urban on February 19, 1972; a son James on July 15, 1953; a daughter, Donna Jean Lyons on January 21, 2000; a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Forburger; one sister, Dorothy Dirksen; and two brothers, John and Robert Muehe.
