November 16, 1871 --- August 2, 1945

LeRoy M. Carlton, 73, died at Glen Ellyn, Illinois, last week Thursday. The remains were brought to Eagle Grove for burial, a graveside service being held in Rose Hill cemetery Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. C. W. Tompkins in charge.

Mr. Carlton was a former resident of Eagle Grove and learned the machinist trade in the local round house. After completing his apprentice training he went to Chicago where he was employed by the Westinghouse Air Brake Co. until he was retired four years ago. He was born in Corning, New York, Nov. 16, 1871. He married Mary Jane Fothergill, sister of Mrs. Hattie Mitchell of this city. Mrs. Carlton died July 1, 1939. Surviving is one son, Major George A. Carlton, who is now stationed at the Dayton, Ohio airport.

Attending the funeral services here from out of town were Major and Mrs. Carlton and daughter, Mary Ellen Carlton and son George West Carlton and Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Rossiter, all of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Dr. and Mrs. B. F. Kilgore of Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Newburn of Rushmore, Minn., and Theo Olson, Supt. of Motive Power C. G. W. Railway at Oelwein, Ia.
