Joshua A. Darland, 22, passed away on October 19, 2015, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, October 23, at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 22, at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Joshua was born January 30, 1993, to Doug and Desiree (Freerks) Darland in Ames, Iowa. He lived in Randall and Story City his entire life. His favorite sports to watch were the Green Bay Packers, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Boston Red Sox. He loved spending time on the X-box, listening to all kinds of music and watching movies. Joshua is survived by his parents, Doug and Desiree Darland of Story City; grandparents, James Freerks of Story City, Doug and Linda Darland of Clarion, Iowa, great-grandmother, Frances Freerks of George, Iowa; and one brother, Jason Darland of Story City. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Bonnie Freerks; an uncle, Don Darland; and a cousin, Brian Powell. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name. Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is assisting the family with arrangements.
