CLARION, IA -- Donald E. "Bud" Moore, 95, a resident of the Clarion Health and Wellness Center in Clarion, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, starting at 2 p.m. at the Clarion Church of Christ in Clarion. Pastor Warren Curry will be officiating. Burial will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Andrews Funeral Home, 516 First St. S.E., Belmond, and continues one hour prior to services at the church Friday. Memorials may be sent to the family or the donor’s choice.

Donald E. (Bud) Moore, the son of Percy and Gunda (Evans) Moore, was born April 5, 1920, in Dows. He attended Hampton High School in Hampton, graduating on June 14, 1933. Donald married June Lathrop in Gilman on Sept. 12, 1940. Their union was blessed with three children: Marcia Larson, Mark Moore, and Curt Moore. Donald farmed Alexander, Meservey, and Belmond areas. He owned a corn shelter and did custom work for area farmers. He loved horses and worked the earth on his farm for many years with his draft horses.

Bud and June moved into Belmond in 1969 where he was employed at Holland and Long International for over 20 years. He then worked for True Value Hardware for many years. Donald was baptized as an adult at the Church of Christ in Clarion where he and June were members. Bud liked to bowl with several friends. He truly relished times in the outdoors and all of nature's splendor. One would often see Donald cruising about town streets or on the bicycle and walking trails. He enjoyed horseshoe playing with his wife, June, over the years. Bud was a "gentle" man who loved to brighten people's days with his well-known wave and welcoming hello to nearly everyone who crossed his journeys, or by his home where he would spend times in his garage with the radio filling the airwaves. He collected "buckeyes" and would share them with others for good luck and he had a fondness for chocolate. Bud enjoyed working word search puzzles, playing bingo, listening to Dixieland music, and watching Lawrence Welk.

His remaining survivors include his daughter Marcia (Sherwood) Larson, Clarion; and sons Mark (Gerry) Moore of Fort Dodge, and Curt (Byrul) Moore of Rowan; six grandchildren: Lance (Jennifer) Larson of Eagle Grove, Misty (Eric) Davidson of Minot, North Dakota, Christopher Moore of Belmond, Kim (Brent) Haniszewski of Fort Dicks, New Jersey, Jenny Moore of Klemme, and Jamie (Trent) Claude of Dows; 11 great-grandchildren: Tory Kurtis Moore, Dakota Halstead, Megan Larson, Isaac Traeger, Kelsey Traeger, Taylor Traeger, Autumn Davidson, Annika Davidson, Madi Haniszewski, Ben Haniszewski, and Parker Claude. He was preceded in death by his parents Percy and Gunda Moore, wife June Moore in 2015, brothers Max and Walter, and five sisters Mary, Thelma, Lucille, Helen, and Doris. Three nephews, one niece, grandson Jason Moore, and great grandson Zachary Christensen. Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, Iowa;
