Sylvia Ann (Nurre) Kollasch, 94, of Belmond, died Saturday morning (Aug. 7, 1999) at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the St. John Catholic Church, Bancroft, with Father Henry Nurre, Deacon Bill Kollasch and Deacon Phil Doocy officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Bancroft. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Bancroft, is in charge of arrangements.

Sylvia Ann (Nurre) Kollasch was born on April 10, 1905, the first child of Joseph John and Anna Lenz Nurre, in Maple River, Iowa. She lived the first few years of her life in Maple River, Neola and Council Bluffs, Iowa. The family moved to a farm near Bancroft, Iowa, in 1918. She attended St. John School for several years. On June 16, 1936, Sylvia was united in marriage to Albert Charles Kollasch. They farmed the Kollasch family farm in Bancroft and raised their children there. Sylvia retired to Belmond, Iowa, at the time of her husband's death on July 3, 1979. She entered the Belmond Health Care Center in 1994.

Sylvia enjoyed painting, reading, gardening and playing bridge, but her greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a former member of C.D.A.

Survivors include her children, David L. Kollasch and wife, Dorothy Jean, of Verona, Wis., Albert J. Kollasch of Belmond, Joseph J. Kollasch and wife, Marilyn, of Ames, William C. Kollasch and wife, Angelina, of Santa Fe, N.M., Peter Kollasch and wife, Patricia Knox, of Washington Grove, Md., Mary Lou Burke and husband, Barry, of Lexington, Mass., Kathleen Kollasch of McMinnville, Ore., and Sylvia Reed and husband, Jeffrey, of Fond du Lac, Wis. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, Michael, Anthony, Benjamin, Edward, George, Dominic, Jonathan and Jeffrey Kollasch, Paul and Karen Burke, Daniel Reed, and Saeed Hassan; five great-grandchildren; as well as two brothers, Philip Nurre and wife, Rosie, of Seattle, Wash. and Father Henry Nurre OSB of Benet Lake, Wis.; sister, Dorothy and husband, Leslie Harvey, of OshKosh, Wis; sisters-in-law, Doris E. Nurre of Sioux City, Eileen Nurre of Whittemore, and Sylvia (Skipper) Nurre, of Santa Clara, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; seven brothers, John, Eugene, Joseph, Leo, Richard, Gerald and Robert Nurre; and two sisters, Rosemary Stephenson and Sister Mary Paschal, OSF.
