Rolland W. Martin, age 73, of Des Moines and formerly of Dows, passed away Monday October 5, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services for Rolland W. Martin will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday October 10, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Dows. Pastor Shawn Hill will officiate. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Friends may call on the family of Rolland W. Martin starting at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the church in Dows. Dugger Funeral Home, 100 North Lee Street in Dows is in charge of arrangements.

Rolland, the son of Virgil Martin and Myrna Mills Martin was born July 27, 1942 in Lovilia, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Dows. After graduation Rolland moved to Des Moines where he obtained an accounting degree from the American Institute of Business. Rolland was employed as an Auditor for the State of Iowa for more than 40 years before retiring. Rolland was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. The most important thing is his life was his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.

Rolland is survived by his two children Jim (Laura) Martin and Julie (Chad) Amadeo of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Joe, Jeff and Jon Martin of Tennessee, Rachel and Luke Amadeo of Des Moines; five siblings, Marcella Meyer of Dows, Kay (Mike) Muhlenbruck of Greene, Keith Martin of Colorado, Lauretha (Kim) Martin of Oklahoma and Bob (Linda) Martin of Klemme. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Deloris Isaacson, Velda McCoy and Dotha Schwab, and his brother Marlin Martin.
