March 15, 1928 --- October 11, 2015
Naomi Ruth (Trotter) Hill, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Swafford) Trotter, was born March 15, 1928, on a farm near Eagle Grove. She attended Goldfield Public Schools and graduated in 1946. While she was in school, Naomi worked for ladies in the Goldfield and Thor area doing housework.
Naomi married Melbourne Charlson of Thor in 1948 at the Badger Lutheran Church and to this union, eight children were born. She moved several times and in 1959 moved to Dakota City. Naomi later divorced and in 1978, she married Alva Hill at the Goldfield United Methodist Church. Alva passed away in 1998.
Naomi worked for Mease School as a cook from 1966 until her retirement in 1993. She also worked as a custodian in the Humboldt School District where her work ethic was second to none. Naomi was a member of the Goldfield United Methodist Church and past member of Royal Neighbors and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cross word puzzles and many other word games. She was well known for her deep fried chicken and spritz cookies. Naomi was a devoted mother who overcame many hardships through her faith in God in raising her eight children by herself. She is loved by many and often referred to her as "a little sweetie"! She will be missed by many.
