Edward Glen Eccles (Age 83)
Edward (Ed) Eccles passed away in his home in Spokane, Washington on September 20th, 2015. Ed was born in Wright County, Iowa to Glen Allen Eccles and Edna Alma Draves. He was the oldest of seven children. As a young man he helped support his family on the farm while his father served in the Army Infantry during WW2. Ed was an Eagle Scout and helped several sons and other young men in the Boy Scouts achieve the same honor. When he was 19 he joined the Air Force to fight in the Korean War; and he ultimately spent 20 years in our country's service as an air traffic controller. After retiring from the Air Force, Ed had a second career as the Assistant Director of the Physical Plant at Whitworth University. Ed loved to hunt, fish, and shoot trap with close friends. He was a strong man of exceptional character who helped those in need. He had the ability to fix absolutely anything. As a father and step-father he helped raise six sons and four daughters. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Cecil and Kenneth, and his sister Betty. He is survived by his loving and caring wife Patsy Carmack Eccles, his brothers Stanley and Dennis, his sister Margaret, his children, and four grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at the Washington State Veteran's Cemetery at 21702 W. Espanola Rd. in Medical Lake on October 7, 2015 at 10:00 am; with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Inland Northwest Honor Flight or Hospice of Spokane.
