NORTHFIELD -- Funeral services for Dr. H. G. Henriksen, pioneer Scott county physician and druggist, who passed away at his home in Northfield, where he resided since his retirement on Sunday, March 30, were held on Wednesday, April 2, at St. John's Lutheran church. Dr. Henriksen, who was 82 years of age, had been ill for about two months. The Rev. B. R. Biorn, pastor of the church officiated at 2:00 p.m. Burial was made in Meadow Ridge cemetery, Faribault. Pallbearers were Peter C. Edwardson, Knute Leidal, Carl Seim, Carl Swanson, Herbert C. Jacobson and Martin Nelson.
Henry George Henriksen was born June 6, 1869 in Stavanger, Norway, the son of Ole and Ellen Fostvedt Henriksen, After attending school in Stavanger the young man came to the United States in 1888 settling at Grafton, N. D. Later he attended Northwestern College of Pharmacy, Loyola University and the University of Chicago. After practicing medicine in Alaska he located in Huxley, Iowa. He also practiced in Eagle Grove and Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1920 he came to New Market and Elko communities, practicing there for nearly 20 years. Dr. Henriksen is survived by his widow, the former Selma Hiding to whom he was married on September 30, 1899 in Marshalltown, four brothers and sisters, Sam Henriksen of Ganges, British Columbia; Sophus Henriksen of Sequim, Wash., Bertha and Helge Henriksen of Stavanger, Norway. Before coming to Northfield where he resided for 14 years Dr. Henriksen practiced medicine at New Market and Elko for many years, and was widely known in that area. When he moved to Northfield, with his wife, they brought their house, a large two story residence from Elko to Northfield, a distance of about 17 miles.
