Mrs. Edna M. Haugen of Rochester died Wednesday, May 14, 1980, at the age of 72. She was born in St. James and graduated from St. Olaf College in 1930, having been a member of the St. Olaf choir as a student. She taught violin and voice at St. Olaf for two years and also taught music in Clarion, Iowa for two years. She was married on October 19, 1935, to the Rev. Abner S. Haugen, who preceded her in death in 1975. Through the years, she was active in the Rochester Symphony Orchestra. She was choir director at Zumbro Lutheran Church for many years. She served as a trustee of the St. Olaf College Alumni Association. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Miller of Arlington, Va.; a son, James H. of Farmington; a sister, Miss Charlotte Olseth of St. James; two grandchildren, John and Jennifer Haugen. The memorial service was held Saturday at Zumbro Lutheran Church, Rochester. Private interment was at Oakland Cemetery, Rochester. Memorials were preferred for Zumbro Lutheran Church.
